Independent Learning Day, April 8th, 2024
To provide a safe viewing of the Great American Eclipse on April 8, the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) has decided to make that day an independent learning day for students and school-based employees. The safety and well-being of our students remain a top priority for DCSD, and while experiencing a solar eclipse is exciting and educational, looking directly at an eclipse can damage a student’s eyes. The independent learning day would also ensure students and staff are not on the roads and highways during the time of the eclipse, which is expected to begin at 1:45 p.m. and end at 4:21 p.m., during dismissal time for DCSD schools. We encourage families who plan to experience the eclipse to be safe and protect their eyes by wearing eclipse-viewing glasses. Families can visit DCSD’s website for more safety tips.

Eagle Trek
Thank You from Evansdale Foundation
I continue to be humbled and amazed by the support of the Evansdale Elementary School community. For this year's EagleTrek we set out with a very ambitious goal - $30,000. With the help of the dedicated Foundation Board, our partners in the Evansdale PTA, amazing Volunteers, supportive community Business Sponsors and most importantly the Families and Students raising money for our school we SURPASSED our goal and raised $30,130.10! We’re excited about the enrichment opportunities these dollars will be able to create for our school. Eagles United!

Candice Garder, Evansdale Foundation

Save the date! We will celebrate with the Eagle Trek family celebration on April 12th.

Art & Music Night
Come out on Thursday, April 11th to celebrate an evening of the arts! Following the PTA meeting at 5 PM, there will be performances by 5th grade ukelele students,  4th and 5th grade chorus, and our 5th grade band in the cafeteria.
Artwork will be displayed in the gym from 5-7 PM. There will also be a photo booth, art making stations, and a glass harpist performer in the gym with the art show!
Families can purchase their child's framed artwork for $30 and a percentage of sales will directly benefit next year's PTA budget which helps support our art and music programs here at Evansdale. Credit Card payments will be accepted the night of the show; however, cash and checks will not be accepted.
We encourage you to pre-order the framed art before art and music night on our virtual art show website (opens on April 8th  ) . This will allow you to skip the payment checkout line at the art show.
