Chess Club at Evansdale Elementary

Coach Rodney Lewis and Championship Chess present a systematic, fun way to build chess skills during chess instruction and while students play. Studies show that chess improves math, reading and problem-solving and our methods connect these academic benefits to our classes. Classes include instruction as well as chess play and guided analysis.

• Day and Time: Fridays after school from 2:30 to 3:30pm

• Dates: Fall session August 26 to November 4. No chess: October 7

• Parents need to record dates. Chess club will start as scheduled unless you receive a notification.
• There are 3 sessions per school year. Winter session starts November 11. Watch for new flyer at end of session.

• Who Can Play: There can be 2 groups: An advanced group open to all students who know how to play and a beginner group for non-players. There must be at least 10 registered in each group.

· Cost: Fall Session Club Fee includes online access to Family Connection Site for instructional materials:

· EARLY registration by August 23: $135 per child for this session. A 15% discount for each additional sibling is automatically deducted in your online registration before going to payment screen.

· LATE registration from August 24: A $15 late fee is automatically added in your online registration.

· Registration and Payment by E-mail and Check: first email [email protected] and provide your child’s name, grade, phone number and request check mailing instructions.

Family Connection and Club Achievement Cards
Every Championship Chess Club participant is a registered member of the Family Connection, our exclusive site filled with activities, videos and games that promote chess skills. Championship Chess Achievement Cards start with basic pre-chess games and progress through increasing skills. Players earn cards after completing each level. Your invite for access is sent once payment is received.
