Dear Evansdale Community,

I am excited to join you as the new principal of Evansdale Elementary School! Having passionately served elementary students since 1999, I appreciate this opportunity to work with you.  I taught in Florida for five years before coming to Georgia and DeKalb County in 2004.  I have been committed to ensuring a high-level of engagement, growth, and joy in the learning experiences of children while working in Region II of the DeKalb County School District.

My past experiences have varied across all levels of instruction in kindergarten, third, fourth, and fifth grades. During the summer months, I have worked with camps, after-school programs, service learning groups, and international exchange programs for children.  Most recently, I have worked to support the school improvement efforts of my former school as an instructional coach and assistant principal.  In all of these settings, I have gained an appreciation for the development of children, and I will support the holistic needs of all learners in our school.

As I transition into this role, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success already established at Evansdale, by building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners.  Over the next few weeks, I am excited about the opportunity to get to know the staff, parents and students to further learn the culture, climate and needs of the Evansdale community.  It is my belief that working collaboratively with all stakeholders will ultimately lead to the success of all Evansdale students, therefore, please know that my door is always open to your input.

The children of Evansdale are our hope and most precious assets.  I look forward to a wonderful school year of serving the Evansdale community together!

Most sincerely,

Moneke Fields

Principal
