Join PTO Today

We did it!  We voted as a PTA to dissolve our unit and can now proceed with unifying with the Evansdale Education Foundation.  From here on, you will see a transition as we will use PTO instead of PTA.  We also will take this opportunity to change our communications platform.  So, to receive weekly email newsletters combining PTO, school and district announcements, please sign up here HERE!
Thank you for helping us move forward as a community.

Your Feedback Matters – Please Complete t...
Dear Parents and Families,

We value your input and encourage all parents to take a few moments to complete the GADOE CCRPI Parent/Family Survey. Your feedback is vital as it provides valuable insight into our school’s learning environment, climate, and culture.
This survey also directly impacts our school's STAR Climate Rating, which reflects the overall experience and satisfaction of our school community.

Your participation is greatly appreciated, and your feedback will help us continue to grow and improve.
Thank you for being an essential part of our school community!

Holiday Luncheon

We activated the holiday spirit at our Holiday Luncheon last week as families gathered to share a meal with their student(s).
Thank you to our chair, Stephany Elias and our volunteers Carolyn Hall and Donna Ginn for making the day more festive. Also a shout-out to our cafeteria staff and helpers for delivering a special dining experience!

Spirit Night

Our Next Spirit Night is Wednesday, January 15th!

Get ready for a fun night out in Tucker with your Evansdale family! Nicky’s Undefeated is ready for us to take over on January 15th! Eat fantastic food and support our school.

Double-Header Event in January - Parent M...

We’re excited to offer two very important information sessions back-to-back on January 21st.
First up, we’ll have the DLI Annual Meeting where DLI families (or those entering the program) can hear from DCSD, Henderson and Lakeside representatives about the vision of the program, the pathway through middle and high school and experiences from current students. Afterwards, we’ll have our official PTO Launch and share what’s changing and how you can be involved in the new organization. Mark the date on your calendar for an afternoon of important information sharing!

Cherokee Stories

Before the break, students engaged in a performance of the folklore and lifeways of the Cherokee people led by storyteller Barry Stewart Mann.
We loved how he brought famous cultural figures to life! PTO supports the cultural arts program with in-school assemblies for students to gain exposure to the arts. If you know of a performer or group that might be suitable for this program, please contact us.

H-Pride Visit
Roundtable Roundup
We’re thrilled to share that we had a successful roundtable visit with our Superintendent, Dr. Horton last week! It was a wonderful opportunity to have a meaningful discussion with stakeholders about what makes Evansdale unique, our goals, and our vision for the future. We are now officially H-Pride Certified! This is a significant milestone for our school community, and we look forward to fostering pride and collaboration among students, families, staff, and the school district.

DCSD News

Did you know that DCSD's Code of Conduct states that "students will not use any electronic communication device, including but not limited to cellular phones, smartphones…during traditional and/or virtual instructional time or on school buses?

DCSD has launched a Disconnect to Reconnect pilot in 18 schools for 2024-2025 to support the Student Code of Conduct, strengthen the skills outlined in DCSD’s new Portrait of a Graduate, and based on research and feedback to promote better learning habits, enhance student engagement, increase academic integrity, improve social skills, and support mental health. Want to learn more and provide feedback? Watch our video in English and in Spanish.

Mission & Vision

The vision of the DeKalb County School District is to inspire our community of learners to achieve educational excellence. Our mission is to ensure student success, leading to higher education, work, and life-long learning. We are making this vision and mission a reality – every day, in every classroom throughout the District.

Through community forums, focus groups, listening sessions, and more, we have engaged our stakeholders, refined our objectives, honed our procedures, and formulated a robust, highly-structured yet agile and adaptive strategic plan. We are pleased with the progress we have made thus far, and excited about the future – of our District, our community, and, most importantly, the 100,000+ students who daily bring to us their limitless potential.

The District has created performance measures, targets, and initiatives to ensure success in each goal area. A monitoring and data collection process has been developed, and rigorous progress check procedures have been implemented. At the local level, on-going training sessions are offered to all principals in order to support the work of aligning, refining, monitoring, and evaluating the continuous improvement efforts of each individual school.

As a community of learners, we are committed to excellence in everything we do – within the classroom and throughout the District. This continuous improvement process permeates each aspect of our Strategic Plan, and we are honored to partner with you to make it a reality for all.
