Book Blast Reveal

Have you checked out this week's DCSD "Hitting the Road with Horton"? If not, we encourage you to take a look! Evansdale Elementary was highlighted for our Book Blast Reveal, where we celebrated literacy and the joy of building home libraries on Valentine’s Day.
Our theme, "Evansdale Loves to Read," reflects our commitment to ensuring every student has access to books that unlock endless opportunities. This initiative is a powerful step in fostering a love for reading and lifelong learning.
Special Thanks to our Media Specialists, Dr. Sansbury and her team for rolling out this imitative and bringing it to fruition for our boys and girls.

Eagle Trek
We Did it!
We're thrilled to announce that, thanks to the incredible dedication of our PTO, amazing volunteers, supportive community business sponsors, and most importantly, the enthusiastic participation of our families and students, we've surpassed our fundraising goal! We raised a fantastic $30,835.64, which will create amazing enrichment opportunities for our school. Congratulations to our first-grade students, who won the grade-level competition and will enjoy a well-deserved pizza and ice cream party!

Our EagleTrek fun run/walk was a huge success, with students and staff having a wonderful time running and walking, followed by a refreshing cool treat. We were even joined by some of our generous sponsors, Zaxby's and D1 Training, adding to the fun! A special thank you to our EagleTrek Run Coordinator, Jennifer Alexander-Sanchez, for her hard work, and to Veronica Cornish, owner of VC Creative, who designed our fabulous event shirt this year. We couldn't have done it without everyone's support!

STEM Night
We had a truly amazing array of activities for our STEM Night! Rockets, volcanoes, glowing germs and magnets, there was something for everyone! Thank you to our PTO chair, Laura Leite and Ms. Bachman for their excellent planning and to the Lakeside Beta Club, HOPE organization, and community organizations for bringing our STEM activities to life!

Black History Performance
Celebrating Black History together!
Last week we had two awesome performances to learn and celebrate Black History. First, an African children’s author shared her book along with dances, songs and artifacts of African culture and then our very own students danced and taught us about HBCUs in a moving and inspiring show! Thank you to Stephanie Salazar for arranging our performer and Ms. Pitts, the Black History Committee and parent volunteers for working with our students on their performance.

Join PTO Today

We did it!  We voted as a PTA to dissolve our unit and can now proceed with unifying with the Evansdale Education Foundation.  From here on, you will see a transition as we will use PTO instead of PTA.  We also will take this opportunity to change our communications platform.  So, to receive weekly email newsletters combining PTO, school and district announcements, please sign up here HERE!
Thank you for helping us move forward as a community.

DCSD News

Did you know that DCSD's Code of Conduct states that "students will not use any electronic communication device, including but not limited to cellular phones, smartphones…during traditional and/or virtual instructional time or on school buses?

DCSD has launched a Disconnect to Reconnect pilot in 18 schools for 2024-2025 to support the Student Code of Conduct, strengthen the skills outlined in DCSD’s new Portrait of a Graduate, and based on research and feedback to promote better learning habits, enhance student engagement, increase academic integrity, improve social skills, and support mental health. Mission & Vision

The vision of the DeKalb County School District is to inspire our community of learners to achieve educational excellence. Our mission is to ensure student success, leading to higher education, work, and life-long learning. We are making this vision and mission a reality – every day, in every classroom throughout the District.

Through community forums, focus groups, listening sessions, and more, we have engaged our stakeholders, refined our objectives, honed our procedures, and formulated a robust, highly-structured yet agile and adaptive strategic plan. We are pleased with the progress we have made thus far, and excited about the future – of our District, our community, and, most importantly, the 100,000+ students who daily bring to us their limitless potential.

The District has created performance measures, targets, and initiatives to ensure success in each goal area. A monitoring and data collection process has been developed, and rigorous progress check procedures have been implemented. At the local level, on-going training sessions are offered to all principals in order to support the work of aligning, refining, monitoring, and evaluating the continuous improvement efforts of each individual school.

As a community of learners, we are committed to excellence in everything we do – within the classroom and throughout the District. This continuous improvement process permeates each aspect of our Strategic Plan, and we are honored to partner with you to make it a reality for all.
