Dear Evansdale Community,
I am SO excited to be joining Evansdale as your new Assistant Principal and join in with parents, educators, and the community as we uplift our Eagles to new heights! Over the course of the last decade, I have supported students and learning in many different roles. I began my journey as a teacher supporting students in the Meadowcreek Cluster of Gwinnett. In this role, I worked supporting English language learners, gifted learners, and my co-workers through our arts integration initiative. I then joined Dekalb County and continued teaching at Chesnut Elementary. In 2022, I had the opportunity to support the MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support) process at Austin Elementary working with students, teachers, and families to ensure we met the unique needs of our students in a comprehensive, data driven way. I’m looking forward to utilizing my experience to support our Evansdale community.
As I child, I saw firsthand the impact educators could have on people their entire lives. I am here today because I had a mom who cared so much about my education, in which she drove me out of town so I could pursue a quality education. Teachers made the difference in my life. My father did not graduate from high school, and I am determined to be that champion and advocate that I know my dad so desperately needed as a child. My mother’s parents did not pass on their native French or Arabic, and I do not want any of our students to ever feel that who they are is not welcomed and celebrated in our building. I am so passionate about continuing to support and develop the inclusive, collaborative environment at Evansdale where students can learn, and teachers can teach.
